He loves all the great people at the Academy and believes this is what separates it from other schools. His goals include to continue training and improving for as long as he can. John is an accountant for Winthrop Hospital. He originally started at YH Park in the 90’s. He likes the fact that his training brings balance to his life. Tkd always brings peace into his busy life and he believes that you are never too old and should never give up, persevere no matter what life throws at you, “keep kicking, you gotta go forward.” His belief is that you can do whatever you want if you put your mind to it. His goal is to become a 2nd degree black belt and beyond. Life goals include having a family one day.

Some of Hana achievements outside of tkd include playing violin at Lincoln Center. Her goals in tkd include achieving Black Belt and continuously learning and growing. His goals include being an Advanced Taekwondo student and to get to purple belt in 2014.

She’s learned that you need a lot of hard training and perseverance to achieve your goals in Taekwondo. Her goals include being a psychologist and a Black Belt one day. She is currently applying for college and wants to study psychology.

Jamie has been training tkd with her older brother Julian. She enjoys meditating to class to calm her mind and body before exercises. She likes practicing her techniques by breaking boards. She has learned various kicking combinations that keep challenging her but reminds herself to never give up and “finish what you begin.” Her goals include becoming an honorary 10th degree Black Belt Grandmaster one day. James has been training tkd since 1978 and currently trains with his daughter. He works with the NYPD and participates in youth programs to help kids stay out of trouble. He trains as it is a part of his culture and also to improve himself. He loves meeting new people, overcoming challenges in class and always improving the new curriculum he learns. TKD has helped him be more patient in his everyday life. He states that seeing other students improve and grow give him satisfaction. His goal is to open his own martial arts school and become a master and beyond and have his training be a part of his life as long as he can.

Shari has been training since 2 yrs old and does it with her father. Along with being a tremendous leader in class, she also helps donate her time helping autistic kids during her lunch break at school. He likes board breaking, making new friends and learning Korean. TKD has helped her be more responsible, patience with siblings and family. TKD also has helped her with problems that have arisen at school such as bullying. He goal is to become a senior black belt.

His future goals are to live a long healthy life, stay physically active and spend more time with his daughter. He really appreciates the family environment that is established here at YH Park. Laurie has been training at YH Park forever! She trains for her overall health, mental discipline and enjoys the mind, body and spirit approach of practicing. She states that what she loves most about the academy is the family atmosphere and how the instructors motivate and inspire the students to be their best in life. She has learned that martial arts training is essential for her and she would like to continue for as long as she can. Her goals include motivating her students at her workplace, writing a book, losing weight, retiring and of course BLACK BELT!

Chris is a retired federal law enforcement after 33 years of service. He is looking forward to enjoying more family life.
